You ‘Do You: A Hair Pin Tutorial

Looking for a way to give you hair a quick zip of pizazz without a ton of effort? ModCloth to the hair rescue! Today we’re playing with some our Strong Set of Florals Hair Pins, which are equal parts handy and decorative. Play off these four sweet, simple ideas for your upcoming holiday shindigs and get-togethers.
And remember: you’re only a set of bobby pins away from a ‘do that dazzles!

Made to Braid

How lovely is this bouquet of flowers affixed to the end of a braid? To complete the look, grab a section of hair from the left side of your face and create a standard, three-strand braid. Pull it toward the back of your head and affix as many floral bobby pins as your heart desires. Arrange them strategically so they look like a bouquet.

‘Do the Twist

Decorative bobby pins add a touch of glamour to any classic, half-up hairstyle. For this look, create sweeping waves by curling your hair with a large barrel curling iron. Loosely pull back half your hair and secure with a clear elastic, then twist this section around itself and secure with regular bobby pins to create a rosette bun. I gently pulled my bun apart to give it more volume. Stick two or three decorative bobby pins into the top, just off to the side, and you’re ready to head out the door.

Waves of Grace

Here’s a deconstructed half-up hairstyle that’s perfect for pretty much anywhere you may be headed. To begin, pull back one section of hair from the right side of your head and slide in two parallel bobby pins going in opposite directions. Repeat this on your left side. Next, gently twist the two sections together. A pomade or bit of hair spray will help it stick.

For the ‘Bun’ of It

This bun is one of my go-to hairstyles, and it’s really easy to create. Start by separating your hair into three sections: one large section in the center and two smaller sections on either side of your head. Secure the large section with clear elastic, then twist it to create a bun and secure with bobby pins. Next, twist the left section of hair and then pull it backward so it wraps under and around the bun. Secure with bobby pins and repeat on the other side. I placed three perfectly-spaced bobby pins on the top to dress it up.
+You can also try this with any of our other bobby pin sets. Mix and match them to suit your style and outfit!
