If you’re attending an Indian wedding for the first time, it’s very likely that you’ll get overwhelmed by the bewildering array of rituals and  etiquette connected with weddings. What you wear can be a mystery too, because many Indians dress quite differently. This guide will help you pick the right outfit for the Indian wedding. Have fun.

Don’t Wear Anything Too Tight or Revealing

Most Indians are traditional. Even if they are not, you can be sure that the weddings will be. So during the actual wedding, or even before and after that, make sure to avoid wearing something that is too tight or revealing. Many ceremonies are long drawn and time-consuming. So it is always better to wear comfortable clothes that are not too tight. That skin-tight, low-cut blouse isn’t going to be viewed favorably at the wedding.

Avoid Black and White

Black is not an auspicious color for special occasions in India. White is good but inappropriate for weddings. So it would be improper to turn up for a festive occasion in those colors. Try red or maroon, but again, chances are high that the bride’s wedding saree or the wedding lehenga is one of the two colors. So the best option would be to stick to tried and tested colors like yellow, green, blue or pink.

Don’t Go Too Casually Dressed

Wear one of your special festive outfits and show attention to detail while putting your ensemble together. Line your eyes generously, dab on your favorite lipstick and do something different with your hair so that it is not one of those “normal day” looks anymore!
